J. C. Dibert General Store in Pavia PA

J. C. Dibert, of the Lost Children of the Alleghenies fame, had a General Store in Pavia. This building no longer stands. I had the privilege to photograph the general store years before it was torn down. When I saw it, it was in very rough shape though easily salvageable. I wanted to take on the project, after all, I love to restore older buildings, but did not have enough money to finance it. The loss of the building is a shame. The story of the Lost Children is important history to this region and the effects of the tragedy remains to this day. It is a heart wrenching story.
